Fragment

When you are out drinking at your local pub, you meet a lot of interesting people, and when your local pub is the only metal-pub in Oslo, you meet a lot of musicians as well, and this saturday was one of those nights. There was a couple of nice dudes from Molde, that told me about their band, called Fragment, that they were very eager to promote. I got a visitcard with the myspace adress on, and gave it a shot the other night.

Well, what should I say?
Not bad, not bad at all.
These guys knows how to play, and the music is dark, melodius metal with a deep half-scarred vocal that fits nicely into the rest of the music. They say that they sound like something in the genre of Opeth and Daylight dies, and that is a good description, but there is more there from other genres as well.
Check them out on their Myspace site, and they are looking for a gig in Oslo (or in a short distance away from the city) so give them a message if you know of something interesting.

Edit: Have corrected misdirecting url’s in this post. It should work now.

Rambling Hobo

Everyone knows the music genre called ‘Bluegrass’, and most of the performers are from the deep south in the United States, but there is a few good bands from Europe too, and one of them are from Norway and are called ‘Rambling Hobo’.

I have seen these guys a couple of times live, and they play tight, 30-40′ish

bluegrass, both their own songs and a lot of the good old classics in the genre.

If you like bluegrass music, check them out on their Myspace site.

Here is an amateur recording from ‘Hr Nilsen’ (famous jazz pub in Oslo).

The Cumshots!

The Norwegian metalband, The Cumshots, have realeased their 4th album, and they sound better than ever.

The band was formed in 1999 and consists of Kristopher Schau, Ole Petter Andreassen, Fredrik Gretland,, Tommy Reite, and Christian Svendsen.

The front man, Schau, is best known in Norway for his limit-breaking humor (several radio and television shows) but not that many sees him as the really good vocalist that he is.

Cumshots are one of my favorite bands, and I have added first the videorelease of ‘ I drink alone’ from their third album, and the ‘I still drink alone’ video from their new album.

If they appear on a stage in your neighbourhood, check them out!

Valhalla Rising – Movie

A friend of mine pointed me to this trailer for a new movie thats coming, and man! that looked sweet. The movie is called ‘Valhalla Rising’ and a quick search found this on imdb.com Valhalla Rising (2009).

The Plot : 1000 AD, for years, One Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight, One Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that clears only as the crew sights an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and the Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye discovers his true self. , and from the trailer I will say that this look very promising.

So, stay alert for this movie in january 2010, and here is one of the trailers:

Dance Off at Rock-In

Sometimes it is hard to know if the thing you witness should be posted on the internet or not in fear of beeing accused of cruelty or trying to be funny on other peoples behalf, but I decided to post this little video that I shoot over my shoulder last night, while out drinking at Rock-In (metal bar in Oslo).

I’m not trying to be funny or anything like that. I just want to show how many different types of people that can be seen in this ‘community’, and it also shows that it does not matter what you do or where you come from. If you got the spirit, you’ll fit right in.

So, here it is, “DanceOff at Rock-In”.

(I just added an intro/outro-text and didnt edit the video itself.
I shoot it over my shoulder, so I did not see where I was aiming, and its a little ’stand-still’ in the beginning.)
